Markéta Selucká, attorney
Dean emeritus of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University
Expert in Civil Law at Masaryk
University specialising in consumer protection in EU and Czech law and
national contributor
to the EC Consumer Law Compendium and since 2011 responsible for the
most recent Czech
up-dates. She was an assistant to the President of the Czech
Constitutional Court, a head of
committee of Ministry of Justice for tenancy law in the new Czech Civil
Code. She was a
dean of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University (2015- 2019)..
She is a member of the European Research Group on Existing EC Private
Law (Acquis
Group). As a national reporter, Marketa participated in several
projects for the EU, this
includes Fundamental Rights Action Plan, The Perspectives of
Europeanization of Law of
Succession (Civil Justice Programme of the European Commission).
Marketa has also publish numerous studies on transposition of the EU
consumer protection
into the Czech law. She also hosted several international conferences
on transposition of the
EU consumer law into the national laws of the member states.
Marketa is also an author of five books, the coauthor of almost 30
books and numerous
articles on civil law of the Czech Republic in context of the EU law.
She studied law at the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University and undertook
post-graduate
research on consumer protection in private law. She also completed and
defended her
habilitation thesis on liability for non-performance with focus on
consumer protection.
Marketa's native tongue is Czech, but she is also fluent in English,
Russian and Slovakian.
